Between Two Worlds is an informative look into the lives of the Mapuche peoples of Southern Chile as they struggle to retain their Indigenous culture and natural way of life. Their story unfolds through a series of interviews with community elders, spiritual leaders and youth who detail their communities’ daily routines, spiritual practices and inextricable link to nature, all of which are being systematically jeopardized by the privatization and destruction of their land. Through the eyes of Jose Pablo Painen, a 23 year-old Mapuche student, the film illuminates the human drama of having to live between a tradition-rich culture and the mainstream world trying to destroy it. The film is a collective vision of a people trying to preserve their land and their heritage.  It is a story that acknowledges the cultural pride of Indigenous people, as well as the challenges they face as the modern world continues to encroach upon them.
